Terry’s interest in art began in elementary school in Colorado where her drawings were selected for local library showings. During the first interval of her life, she displayed her expertise predominantly using the left-side of her brain with a career in mathematics and research. For many years, her creative nature was tapped into the fields of crafts such as quilting, needlework and gourmet cooking. Periodically, when time permitted between children and a career as a teacher and research professional, her right-brain started to dominate. She enrolled in watercolors classes at the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs and the University of Mississippi in Oxford. In her semi-retired status, she began taking watercolors classes at the Torpedo Factory.
Her love of flowers is reflected in paintings of flora in their environment and close-up views. Although painting more seriously for only one year, Terry is committed to pursuing artistic expression in her watercolor paintings and branching out into new techniques with an instructor (one-on-one). As she and her husband travel and photograph flora and sites in Australia, Italy, Alaska, Ecuador, Vancouver, and other golf destinations, Terry enjoys capturing what she sees through her watercolor paintings.
Most of Terry’s watercolor paintings on her website are for sale with sizes ranging from 8 x 10 to 16 x20 to 24 x 30. Note cards of these paintings are also available.
Terry’s paintings have been displayed at the Yellow Barn June 6-7, 2009 at Glen Echo Park in Maryland, Fairfax County Government Center, and Green Spring Gardens in Alexandria, VA.
