Kristin Herzog enjoys doing both realistic and abstract art work and
experiments in many different media. Her work has been juried into
national and international shows in sixteen states. Her awards for
fine art include and Award of Excellence from the Virginia Watercolor
Society; the Airfloat Systems award from Southern Watercolor Society;
the Leila Gardin Sawyer Award for Drawing, New York City; Second Place/
Drawing,International Exhibit V, Laredo, TX; Honorable Mention/
Drawing, International Exhibit IV, Laredo, TX; Honorable Mention,
Cheyenne, WY; and selection for the Poynter Institute exhibition,
2001, Tampa, FL.
In June, 2009, she was selected by competition for a two person show
at the George Mason University Center for the Arts.
During her career as a publication designer Ms. Herzog won over 24
national and regional awards in this capacity. She has been Art
Director for both an international magazine and a major US daily
newspaper. She also taught a total of ten years at the University of
Florida and Indiana University.
Ms. Herzog studied at Sweet Briar College under Loren Oliver and took
classes with Bauhaus artist Kurt Kranz. She has an MFA from George
Washington University and additional graduate training at the School
of Visual Arts in New York City. Her other teachers include Susan
Herron and Steven H. Fleming at The Art League in Alexandria, VA,
Maryland artist William “Skip” Lawrence and D.C. artist Rob Vander Zee.
She lives in Fairfax, Virginia and is a signature member of the
Baltimore Watercolor Society.
