Thea Rossi Barron is a resident of Fairfax County, Virginia, who for many years divided her time between practicing law and painting. A self-taught artist, she prefers to paint en plein air, adding finishing touches in her studio. She works in watercolors for her medium-to-large landscapes and seascapes. For her small cityscapes, she combines watercolor and ink to give spontaneity and definition to her work. Traveling with sketchbook and paints at hand, she is drawn to the contours of the land and the characters of her fellow travelers. Besides traveling widely in the United States, Thea travels often to Italy where she is inspired by the intense color and antiquity of the northern and central regions of Italy, the land of her ancestors.
For the last twenty years, she has exhibited her works in juried shows in the Washington, D.C. and northern Virginia areas. She had solos shows in Arlington, Virginia in 1997 and 1999 and in Fairfax, Virginia in 2005 and 2009. Her works hang in private residences and offices in the metropolitan Washington, D.C. area and in private collections in Rhode Island, New York, North Carolina, Illinois, Michigan, Florida and California.
She is a member of Springfield Art Guild, the Fairfax Council of the Arts, and McLean Center for the Arts. She was one of five artists whose works were part of the New Members Show at Gallery West in April 2005. Her work can be viewed on her website, theabarron.com, as well as at the SAG website and can be purchased at Kelly’s Art and Frame at 510 N.Washington Street in Alexandria, Virginia and by contacting her at
