My experience with oils began when I attended Monterey Art School in California and tutored with several well-known teaching artists in the Carmel area.  I continued my art education at Jacksonville University, and I have participated in numerous workshops conducted by Karen Galleher.  Karen’s work and inspiration have been an influence on my primary style, which is impressionism.  She has developed her own painting signature of stylized impressionism in portraiture, landscapes, and fantasy.  Her work is found in art collections in the U.S., Europe, and Asia.

I am drawn to painting the lush, bucolic scenes that I’ve seen in Italy and France, as well as other countries, and my goal in painting them is to create a special sense of place.

I also love working in the fauve style, and my work has been influenced in that regard by the great Matisse.  Painting in the fauve style is so joyous for me because of the happy, lively colors I work with in the creation of my paintings.  My goal in painting them is to create a sense of delight.

Works of mine have shown at Gallery Without Walls, Art in the Workplace, the Fairfax Government Center, numerous regional libraries, and
the Snyder and Thompson Community Centers in Kingstowne.  I am a member of the Springfield Art Guild, the Arts Council of Fairfax County, and the Kingstowne Area Artists Association.

I would welcome e-mail or a telephone call regarding my work.
